About Team JMC
Team JMC is a sporting club formed over 10 years ago by a group of mates looking for a club that puts enjoyment first. We are all about having fun, competing, supporting each other and pushing ourselves that little bit harder. We are open to everyone, no matter what level of ability. Talent optional – enthusiasm essential. Great results are always pleasing but taking part, giving it a real go and finishing with a smile on our faces, proud of what we have achieved is way more important to us.
So can anyone join?
Absolutely. Whether you are used to standing on podiums or you want to find the motivation to get involved in a sport for the first time. Attitude is way more important to us than ability. Our mantra is “Talent is optional but enthusiasm is mandatory”.
How do I join?
All we ask is that you buy a jersey from our Webshop and drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief biography and photo for the members page on our website. That’s it. No forms or fees. Once joined you get access to our closed Facebook group to keep up-to-date with our activities and plans.
What no membership forms to complete, rule books to study or fees to pay?
Nope. If you are into all that there are plenty of clubs out there that might be more suitable. We keep everything simple with no fees, no forms, no rules, no regulations. If you ever want to move on and represent another team, feel free to do so. If you want to represent Team JMC for one sport and represent another for a different sport, we are cool with that as well. All we ask is that you let us know.
How do I buy Team JMC kit?
Our Webshop is now live with a selection of the team gear we have available – if there is something you need that isn’t listed drop us a line at email@example.com and let us know. We make a modest profit on every item and any money raised is ploughed straight back into team activities or donated to our chosen charity The Lancashire Wildlife Trust.
Is it all about mountain biking?
Definitely not. It is true that we started off with a heavy focus on mountain biking and some of the more high profile things we have done are MTB orientated, but we now have members taking part in an increasing number of sports including time-trials, running, swimming, triathlons etc. In fact we are always open to embracing other sports if you have a particular area of interest.
So I don’t have to solo Strathpuffer 24-Hour then?
No. Not unless you really want to and then we would offer you lots of support and advice.
Which bodies are you registered with?
We are registered with British Cycling so if you have a BC license you can nominate Team JMC as your club. We are also registered with Cycling Time Trials for time trials and hill climbs. We are looking to add to this list as our membership grows and the range of sports we are involved in expands. You can also join our Strava Team and compare your stats with fellow members.
Can I submit articles for the website?
We welcome and encourage submissions from all members. Race reports, interesting stories, general musings, training advice and ideas, anything that others will find interesting. Email all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What support can you offer?
At any of the events where we have a major presence, such as Mountain Mayhem or Strathpuffer, we can normally offer some support for those that need it or a base for the weekend and a few drinking buddies for those that don’t.
What does the future hold?
We are working on a number of interesting ideas for the next couple of years including planning our own events. Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information.
