In May I took part in the Great Manchester run and did my best 10km time ever, this was after 2 very long and difficult hikes in the Lake District…
But due to health issues since I have not done any training…
So to say I was a little apprehensive about two 5km’s in one weekend was an understatement. Saturday was a 5km muddy obstacle course, but my companion tends to push me to my very limit. My aspiration was to finish. But I managed a very respectable 39 minutes with no training and loads of obstacles! I thoroughly enjoyed my day and can’t wait to do it again, although my trainers were ruined – they went straight into the bin!
It was then time to tackle the 5km Sunday walk with my little girl (who wasn’t feeling great, but still completed it). This was a lot slower pace and we took plenty of pictures on the course and had a great walk. It was nearly 6km when completed but we managed it in 1:13:31 minutes.
I loved this weekend and the charity’s cause is close to my heart as my father was affected by bowel cancer a few years ago and has been clear for 5 years now.
