I was introduced to Team JMC through Jason Miles and his exploits with Guy Martin for the Channel 4 TV series ‘Speed’. The Windcheetah recumbent trike, that has many race and record titles to its name, was the obvious choice when Jason and Guy were looking for training machines for their 24hr challenge… so that is where I come in! Jason and Andrew ‘Budge’ visited me in my workshop to chat about supporting future human powered racing, and the involvement in my company Advanced Velo Design working with Team JMC.
My background is anything with pedals, be it a full on downhill mountain bike in the French Alps or a sleek, stripped down aerodynamic Windcheetah racing around Lee Valley. I have raced in duathlons as well as endurance mountain events and can chart my history back to racing the Malvern Classics…Yes, I really am that old!!!!
This year I will be competing in the British Human Power Club series of races where I shall be defending my multi-track trophy which I won in 2014. The World human power races 2015 are to be held in Holland this year, where I hope to compete in the fully faired (enclosed) class… Watch out the Brits are coming!!!
Most days I can be found in my workshop drinking numerous cups of tea whilst musing on our future laid back bike designs developments (as well as hand building Windcheetahs, marketing, ordering, R&D, hitting things with hammers, sweeping up etc etc… ). I shall be very interested to see how fast Jason and Budge are when they step into the arena of laid back racing later in the year…?
