Sally Burgess had a challenging time at Mountain Mayhem but came away with a great result in the female pairs category with Jacqui Simcock:

“I was very much looking forward to this years Mountain Mayhem, I last rode there 2 years ago in a team and loved it. However, my first lap didn’t go too well and I earned the nickname Princess Crash-a-lot!  The course was very slippery and more technical than in previous years.  Still, once Jacqui had returned from her lap, I had to go out again! This time it wasn’t as bad and I didn’t crash, however I did on my 3rd lap. On my 4th lap I met a lovely chap who was riding solo and he asked how I was after my crash…..I had to ask which one! He gave a little chuckle and reminded me that it was on the Kenda Koffin descent. I think he was impressed with my crashing skills because I avoided going over the side into the trees!

I have to admit after that my brave pants became a bit shredded, but I still went out to do more laps and enjoyed the whole vibe of Mayhem, from the camaraderie of other bikers, to the support and cheers you got when the course took you through the campsite. And I particularly enjoyed finishing 2nd in our category and getting to meet Princess Anne. It’s going to be a claim to fame for me!

I would like to say a huge thanks to my teammate Jacqui and my hubby Budge for being our pit bitch and race photographer. ?
