My local cycling club sportive the High Peak Hog returns for its fourth year. Having not cycled much more than to and from the office this year I opted for a short route with a couple of friends and had a great sunny ride in the High Peak.

A brilliantly organised event there is a route choice of 50 or 85 miles taking in some of the iconic Peak District climbs; Snake Pass, Mam Nick, Castleton Cement Works, Stanage Edge, Strines and finally Holme Moss that the Tour de France went up in 2014. The 85 mile route is hard due to the climbing, there really isn’t a flat bit.

Organised in May each year by Glossop Kinder Velo I can really recommend it to anyone who wants to see the best riding that the High Peak has to offer, enter early as it fills up fast.
