Team JMC’s Andrew Burgess and Jason Miles took part in the Mary Townley Challenge last weekend and for a welcome change, the weather was quite pleasant. 200 or so riders set off from Waterfoot in Rossendale, many of whom had never ridden the distance that lay before them.
Andrew finished 11th and recorded a personal best time (4 hours 35 mins) in spite of a torn rear tyre and Jason, tackling the event in the middle of a 2am start training ride, finished in 4th place (4 hours 23 mins) and was a contender for the “Most damage done to a post-race cake spread, ever” award.
All proceeds from the event went to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue, who also organised and marshalled on the day. Well done them!
